Join us and learn more about your ancestors, and in doing so, learn more about yourself…
Everyone’s whakapapa is different and it’s fascinating detective work. We aim to understand the wider picture of our ancestors lives through learning about their social circumstances, their journeys, and the times in which they lived.
Meetings
Meetings are held on the second Monday of each month, 6.45pm, at the Alexander Library – Te Rerenga Mai o Te Kāuru, 1 Pukenamu Drive, Whanganui.
We have a mixture of Member presentations and invited guest speakers.
Interest Groups
At present we have a DNA Interest Group which meets from April to September.
Research
We have wonderful resources on site for family research, and our ‘Genies’ are at the Alexander Library every Monday to Friday from 1pm – 4pm, to help you with your research.
One of the great things about being part of a local NZSG Branch is that you have other people to talk about your research with, and to bounce ideas around.
