Please note the earlier start time of 6.30pm, so that we are able to have our AGM and listen to what will be an interesting and informative presentation from Bryan Barkla. Whanganui Fire Brigade was one of the first organised brigades in the country.

AI Ingestion and Scraping
Lisa Lightband will take us behind the scenes of AI and explain how these tools gather and use information.
What does it mean when AI has been “trained”? Where does its knowledge come from? And what do terms like scraping and ingestion actually mean?
This session is designed to make sense of the mystery and help us better understand the technology that is becoming part of everyday life.

DNA Daytime Group
On the third Monday of each Month, at 11am, a group of people interested in DNA meet to talk through their finds, challenges and solutions.
Led by Sally Gale, this informal DNA group meet in the Lounge at the Alexander Research Library.
Research and research support
Every afternoon, between 1pm and 4pm, we have a Genie on duty to support you with your genealogy research, whether you are a member of the branch, or not.
Additionally, there are a large number of items and archives at the Alexander Research Library to assist in your research.
We have a Branch Library with items for members to borrow, including UK ‘Family Tree’ and ‘Who Do You Think You Are’ magazines.
